It’s not that every male physician is insensitive, but it is sometimes difficult for them to comprehend how profoundly hair loss impacts women. Hair is very much a part of the female psyche.
But androgenetic alopecia, or AGA, is only one piece of the puzzle. Polycystic ovaries can also cause hair loss on the scalp. (They also can cause facial and body-hair growth.) Hair loss also may be triggered by diseases such as lupus. Women occasionally lose hair following substantial and rapid weight loss, a high fever, or after having major surgery or extreme stress.
Sometimes our male partners don’t understand the emotions of recovery. Not only did we have to endure the trauma that caused the hair loss, but the aftermath of having the added blow to our self esteem by having thinner or complete hair loss. You just want to get back to your life as it was before the trauma.
We don’t necessarily want to look like a Herbal Essence model, we just want to look like ourselves again!!!
